With every dog that I have owned, I do not let them inside the house until they are at least 12 months,. My dog is now 12 months (and 5 days) So I have let him inside now and again.
Just 5 minutes ago, I had him sitting by my side while on the computer playing smash bros 64 when out of no where my sisters cat walks past the dog.

The dog has ever shown much interest with the cat, even though he has a strong prey drive. Every other time the two animals have met outside, they didn't pay that much attention to one another, the dog stood up and was watching the cat as it walked around the room (I had him in a stay command... didn't work out to well), I knew something was going to happen, so I grasp hold of my dogs collar at the same time, the cat tried jumped up to the desk. Obviously the dogs drive kicked in at that moment.

The dog grabbed the cat in its mouth (mid flight!) on its back, just short of its neck and had forced me to fall flat on my face (I could not manage to hold all 110 pounds of primal instinct) The cat was then thrown side to side as I got up and was trying to free the cat from my dogs mouth.

after 5 seconds of being shaken around, the dog released his grip and the cat was launched almost 8 feet, At that moment the dog went to give chance again and his collar broke off. I dived on the dogs back, at first I was afraid that I could hurt my dog but relised that he was pulling towards that cat!

I got to my feet again, with both hands grasping at my dogs loose skin around his neck (still has some growing to do... fucking hell) I managed to force him out side.

I gave the cat a once over, a good 2 inch hunk of fur was taken out and there are some teeth marks, but, if nothing else the only thing that prevented the cat from being ripped into bits was its coat, I think the dog grabbed a mouth full of fur.

The cat is now in my sisters room, with the door shut and the dog is now outside again.

To give you an indication of the dog, my profile picture is of him at 9 months old. His head and neck are alot bigger, and his legs are alot thicker and longer now.

Its funny how we as people see dogs and cats as nothing more then pets. We forget that they are animals, and they react according to instinct.

For how ever long dogs have been domesticated, we have attempted to water down, and manipulate there instincts to better suit them for living with in our society. Yet what I just witnessed was just that. Raw primal instinct

It was like something out of a nature documentary
